Principal's Message

Dear families and friends of the school,

We are nearly at the end of another term having negotiated the challenges of COVID.  Our strategy of keeping our air pumps running and windows open has definitely had an impact on student-to-student transmission.

We have one cold term ahead and then our school can take further steps towards normality. In the meanwhile be alert for a new variant on the rise and take precautions to keep safe.

As we close off this term, we would like to thank all our staff, families and our community for their steadfast support. We look forward to Calf Club next term. Let's make it a triumphant return to this long-cherished tradition.  Please enjoy the break. Take a big rest and we will see you back next term when it will be action stations for Calf Club. (links to calf club info above)  (We aim to keep all the calf club info in the newsletter for term 3. Some info is yet to be added.)

Five-year-old enrolments for 2023

If you have a child who turns 5 in 2023 and lives in our zone, could you please check with our office to see if we have him/her on the list of new enrolments?

Calf Club Mufti Day

Tomorrow is our first Mufti day for Calf Club. Come along in Mufti and bring a can/tinned food item as a donation. These items will be used for Calf Club raffles. Please check expiry dates. Thank you for your support.

School is closed 25 July

Please note that school opens Tuesday 26 July. It is closed for a teacher-only day on Monday 25 July. KAS is open on 25 July for the full day. Please book via their website.

Last Day of Term 2 First Day of Term 3

For a bit of fun, we held The Great Bombay Boat Race inter-house competition at our assembly. See the video below for an insight into it.

Holiday Slide

Following significant breaks on learning progress due to the impact of COVID, we are appealing to families to keep home reading going over the holidays.

We are trying to make up for lost time and we do not want children to slip back over the break.

Find out more about holiday slide here.

The Cyber Safety Section

Resources.

Thank you Mrs Jones and Mrs Faire for finding these resources for us.

  • Online bullying (or cyberbullying) is covers sending, posting, or sharing: negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone, and can include using personal or private information to embarrass or humiliate someone.

Online bullying is unique because it is:

  • Persistent – the internet is 24 hours a day, so it can be hard for kids to get away from it.
  • Permanent – if the content is not reported and removed it can impact your kids in the future.
  • Hard to notice – as new apps and social media platforms become available, it can be hard to know what is happening.

How to keep your children safe from online bullying

  • Set expectations and stay calm – talk to your children about what they do online and what you want them to do.
  • Understand and evaluate the situation.
  • Understand how your children are being affected.
  • Don’t take away their devices, as they might be receiving support from their friends as well.
  • Work through a plan together – How to create an online plan(external link).
  • Mobile phones

You can block phone numbers that are sending bullying or abusive messages.

To find out how, search “how to block phone numbers” and the model of your child’s phone. You can also contact your service provider to block numbers or disable the account that texts come from.

    Contact the school

If the bullying is happening at school, you can contact your child’s teacher. If you need help to do this, you can contact Netsafe(external link).

Visit Netsafe for more information:Online bullying advice for parents(external link)How to stop online bullying

Online bullying via social media

You can deal with online bullying by reporting it to the social media platform. Instructions on how to report, lock content and unfriend people on social media is available here:
