Food Tech Report
Today was another great day spent with your lovely students creating delicious food, this time Sushi and Sweet Chilli Chicken Noodles/Pasta dishes. The students continue to enjoy experimenting with flavour and texture with the aim of good presentation skills in mind. They understand the process of cooking can be fun and interesting, while being in full control of the finished product themselves.

After four lessons in Food Technology they are also very aware of safety and good hygiene practices more now which is good to see. Many of them tell me that they have made some of the recipes at home too which is good to hear!

For their last lesson here of Term 3, they have been asked to invite guests here to Maramarua School between 12 noon – 1 pm for a shared lunch that they will be cooking and presenting to their guests. You are very welcome to come along for a delicious lunch too.

Next term the year 7 students will be in Hard Materials Technology with Mr Sean Allen and I will have the year 8 students in Food Technology.

Have a great week!

Kind regards
Michelle Gallagher

Marimba Workshops
Thank you for allowing your children to participate in the Marimba workshops.  It was truly fruitful and a great deal of fun.
Have a look at the video below. We are sure that you will agree that these workshops were well worth it.

Sunsmart
As we gear up for spring ( when it does decide to show itself) we need to pull out our bucket hats and we need to begin wearing them.  To help us raise awareness of the harmful exposure times, we have added a new SUNSMART widget to the home page on our website.
Chase's Journey
Chase's return to school is going really well.  Thank you to all of you who continue to support the family.  There will be trials and tribulations ahead. The road is not easy but we are a resilient community and we will continue to walk along side the family, for as long as they wish us to.  Chase is looking forward to going on the Wellington camp.

Is your Year 6 child leaving at the end of this year?
If you are contemplating enrolling your Year 6 child at another school for Year 7 in 2018, could you please complete this form?  Although we would be sad to see your child leave the school, we understand that parents will make this decision for a host of reasons and we are keen to understand them.  We would also like to get an accurate picture, as early as possible, of our student levels for 2018.  This will allow us to advertise free spaces and to staff the school correctly for the next year.  Please complete our survey by clicking on the following link :

Tuesday 26 Sept Franklin Duathlon

Junior Cross Country will be on Thursday 26 October at 1:50pm. More details to come.
Auckland Championship Cross Country
Last week 11 senior pupils represented Franklin at the Auckland Champs X Country. It was very wet underfoot but we managed to finish the event without getting soaked.
Our best runner was Bronwyn who was 5th in the Year 8 Girls. Johno was 17th and Sasha 23rd which were all excellent results when each race had close to 100 participants from all over Auckland. Every pupil did their best and it was interesting to see the runners who may represent New Zealand in the future.
Thank you to the parents who transported us, without them we would not be able to go.

Well done Bronwyn!
