First Lego League Robotics tournament at ACG Strathallan
On Saturday 2 September three Year 5 and 6 students participated in the First Lego League Robotics tournament at ACG Strathallan. This was the first time that a team from Bombay had competed in this event. These students had been practicing for weeks to programme a Lego Mindstorms robot to autonomously complete a set of missions.

On the competition day the students had to first present a project to a set of judges. They then had to compete in a team challenge to show how well they work together. After this the robotics challenges began with one practice match and then 3 scored rounds. In between the teams were able to practice and adjust their coding.

It was a great learning experience to build on for future robotics events. The hope now is to begin some early training for next year’s tournament and have more students involved in robotics programming.

A big congratulations for your effort and the way that you positively represented Bombay School to Charlotte, Ava, and Josh.

Paul Petersen, Principal
2018 Team Leader for Year 7 & 8
In early August Miss Clark made the difficult decision to pursue her dream of doing her big OE.
She has decided to take two years off from teaching to travel the world.
While we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her as she undertakes this rite of passage.
We will have an opportunity to say a fond farewell at the end of the year.

We began recruiting immediately for a new team leader who could build on the successes that Miss Clark has achieved.  I am delighted to announce that Miss Rachel Richards will be leading the team next year.
Rachel comes to us from Maraetai Beach School.  I will share more information about her with you over the coming months.

Meanwhile we will take the time to enjoy every last second of Miss Clark's brilliant leadership of the year 7 & 8 team.

Regards,
Paul

Is your Year 6 child leaving at the end of this year?
If you are contemplating enrolling your Year 6 child at another school for Year 7 in 2018, could you please complete this form?  Although we would be sad to see your child leave the school, we understand that parents will make this decision for a host of reasons and we are keen to understand them.  We would also like to get an accurate picture, as early as possible, of our student levels for 2018.  This will allow us to advertise free spaces and to staff the school correctly for the next year.  Please complete our survey by clicking on the following link :

Update : Alcohol License Applications
Good Morning,

I have had official notification that the applicant is withdrawing his application for an Off Licence to operate from Eco Foods, 143 Bombay Road.  The original application was for a bottle store and that changed after the large number of objections and then consideration was being given for a remote seller Off Licence.  With the continued objections the applicant has now totally withdrawn the application and is no longer seeking to sell alcohol from the premises.

The file is now closed and filed here in Pukekohe.

This application cannot be opened again and any new ideas to obtain an alcohol licence, will have to be a new application and the process would begin again.

Could I ask those of you who assisted in computer generated objections and petitions, to make others aware of this situation.

Kind Regards

Del Haddy
Alcohol Licensing Inspector
