Year 7 & 8 Rowing @ Bombay School
Congratulations to the 2017 School Speech Finalists!!  
The quality of speeches were once again VERY high, making it very difficult for teachers to judge.
 
These are the following results for the School Speech Competition:  
 
YEAR 7&8:
1st: Grace -  Why we should have three day weekends
2nd: Evan -  Why being the eldest sibling is the best
3rd: Ava - Why we should look up to the strong women in our history.
Highly Recommended:
Brayden -  Why Artificial Intelligence is bad
Poppy -  Why cyclists shouldn’t be on the road
Britt -  Why horses shouldn’t be in pet food
Flynn -  Why we shouldn’t use plastic
Jorja -  Why freedom should be controlled
Bronwyn -  Why killing an unborn baby in a car crash should be counted as manslaughter
Zoe - Why children shouldn’t be read fairy tales
Danica -  Why we shouldn’t eat meat
Jack - Why every student should learn a musical instrument
 
YEAR 5&6:
1st: Liam T -  Why every family should have a dog
2nd: Liam W -  Why junk mail should be banned

A big congratulations  to Grace and Liam who represented the school at the Franklin Speech Competition this week(see results below).
Franklin Speech Competition
Huge congratulations to Liam second place in the Year 5/6  Franklin Speech Finals and Grace third place in the Yr 7/8 Franklin Speech Finals. Both these students were magnificent among a very strong field. They will present their speeches at a Luncheon hosted by the Lions Club.
Franklin Science Fair

Last Friday the Calf Club calendar was sent home to all families. The Candyfloss contact Gina Dickinson can be contacted on 021 1189045. Please disregard the phone number on the calendar.
Goats for Calf Club
Once again Oete Goat Farm will be making available kids for sale for calf club. They will be available from the 5th August with collections on Saturday mornings at the farm. The cost will be $50 per kid and both male and female kids are available. Sorry no return kids. Please place an order via txt to Sadie 0211822858 by Wednesday each week for Saturday collection. Ankid milk powder ($100) and kids starter meal ($20) will be on sale at the farm.
Please note that all kids which are sold will be minimum 3 days old and have been fed high quality colostrum.
At Oete Goat Farm we pride ourselves on the health and well being of all our animals. We have a strong relationship with Franklin Vets and recommend them for ongoing veterinary care of your pet goat, so in conjunction with Franklin Vets we have put together an info pack on the requirements to rear a kid goat. This pack will also include a discount voucher for debudding and essential vaccinations of your kid at Franklin Vets Farm Services

We have 1 new Calf halter in the office which has been kindly donated to the school. If you are having a Calf for calf club and need a halter please come to the office. First in first served.

Help needed please
I need some help with some costumes for our upcoming dance competitions.
Is there anyone that can help alter 18 x girls dresses and 14 x boys t-shirts and pants.

Description:
Girls- Take up at the shoulders
Boys- Shred and dirty up black t-shirts and pants to look like they old and well worn.

Our competition is on Friday the 30th of June but we will need to have a dress rehearsal before this date.

Found in playground
A gold horse shoe shape signet ring has been found in the playground last week. It has initials on the front. If you think this belongs to you, please come to the office.
Lost
Sweatshirt - blue and red Canterbury sweatshirt left at football practice on the field on Tuesday afternoon. It has Jake Hughes written in vivid on the label and inside collar. Please return to Jake in room 9 if found. Thank you.
Graze Lunch Orders
Delicious healthy lunches are available to order for Fridays. All orders must be in by 8pm Thursday evening.  You can now do bulk orders for the whole term or a few weeks at a time.

Wednesday 5 July Franklin Gymnastics
Well done Samantha -Inter Schools Showjumping
On Monday Samantha and her pony Anna participated in the inter-schools Showjumping competition.
140 riders from year 7 to 13 took part in either the pony or hack ring.
Samantha rode in the 75cm class for 2nd place and the 80cm for 3rd place (each class had 42 riders, 2 phase)
She also won the judges choice style prize in the pony ring.( 85 riders year 7 to 13).
A great day, just a little wet at times.
