Happy Easter
To those families who commemorate Easter, we wish you a good weekend as you contemplate the significance of the weekend for your faith and family lives.

Enjoy the holiday break Bombay whanau.  Pack it full of good memories.  Can we please appeal to everyone to keep home reading going during the break?  10 to 15 mins of reading at night will go a long way towards ensuring that students' reading levels do not slide backwards as they often do over a holiday break.
Newsletter format change
In response to feedback about the length of the newsletter and the amount of advertising, we will be making a change to the newsletter format next term.  The main newsletter will contain all school related news and there will be a link to the community page.  The community page will contain all the community news and community adverts.  This way parents who want to only read school news can do so and others have the option of linking off to the community page.
Introducing the 2017 School Leaders
Congratulations 2017 Student Leaders
I'd like to congratulate the 2017 school leaders on being selected to carry out these important roles at school.
The selection process was as rigorous as we could make it.  You can find out more about our process here :
http://bit.ly/1OukhX2

What makes selection even more difficult is that fact that we have such a strong pool of Bombay Students to choose from.  Now that you have been selected and no doubt held a night of celebrations at your homes, we expect that you will roll up your sleeves and get stuck into the important work of supporting the school.  We will offer you all the support and guidance possible but in the end the hard work has to come from you.

To those who dearly wanted to be selected but were not this year, take comfort from the fact that your desire to lead does not fade away because you missed this opportunity. Strengthen your resolve to try for the next chance that comes along, after all you are a Bombay student and we strive to excel. Setbacks and disappointments are a part of life and good leaders learn to move on despite them.  - Paul Petersen

Red Poppies Please
On October 12, 1917, my great uncle was killed in a battle at Passchendaele. He has no known grave so his name is on a wall at Tyne Cot in Belgium, which overlooks the battlefield. 842 NZ soldiers lost their lives that day and 150 of them have their names on the same wall. I would love to take 150 poppies to Tyne Cot, one for each soldier, for the 100 year commemoration. Could you please save your poppy and send it to school on the first day of next term. I will make sure that your poppy is placed beside a name so no NZ soldier is forgotten.
Thank you, Mrs Rolfe.
School Syndicate Photos
Our School photo day was on 13 March and this year we were able to get photos of the four syndicates in the school : Kakahu, Kotuitui, Tuhono & Kotare.
There are copies in the school foyer for parents to have a look at - both formal and informal photos.
Teachers have order forms in their classrooms if children are wanting to purchase - they are $15 per photo for the standard size.
If orders can be back to school by the end of Term, then we can get them sent to Photolife for processing.

Kotare & Tuhono really tugged at our heart strings.  Least we forget reminded us of the tremendous sacrifices made by our forebears.  The gumboot song reminded us of what it means to be a kiwi.  Well done teams.
