Hi everyone
Once again we are preparing for the Franklin Triathlon at school and encourage as many children as possible to compete.
It is a marvellous event which challenges all children. We will train in running each day, with 3 days running and swimming and then a practice triathlon with all 3 disciplines close to the event.
Please email me when you have entered your child as we do not get a list until the week of the event. Please enter early as 3 children missed out last year. This is a popular event and 400 children is the maximum for our whole area.
Looking forward to lots of competitors. See details below.
Mrs Rolfe
Friday 10 March, 2017 at Clarks Beach starting at 9.30 am.
This year we are only offering on-line registration via the Fulton Swim School website –
www.fultonswimschool.co.nz please enter as soon as possible.
Limited entries – To keep our event safe and FUN for all participants and their supporters, the committee has placed a limit on the number of entries this year. This has been set at 430 and once we reach this number, we cannot accept any further entries. Plenty of keen triathletes have already registered so please enter as soon asap so you don't miss out.
Also available on the Fulton Swim School website are age appropriate training programmes. These started Monday 30 January so just click on the triathlon tab at the bottom right-hand corner of the home page and from there you’ll find a downloadable file. There’s also all the information you’ll need to prepare your students for the day.
And a couple more reminders - this year it is the responsibility of the parents/caregivers to ensure their child’s bike and helmet are road worthy, safe and in correct working order. Aqua shoes/socks are again compulsory for the swimming leg!
Entries, with payment, need to be completed on-line by Wednesday 1 March 2017 and again this year, we cannot accept late entries.
What’s new? There will be a modification to the way we time this year’s event as we’ll be using electronic timing chips that will be attached to the student’s race number bib. This is a little different from the transponders they had to wear around their ankle last time (if this is not their first time of course!). They’ll collect their race number bib at registration on the day and then attach it to the front of their t-shirt. After their swim, they’ll enter transition and must put on their t-shirt with race number attached before heading out on their bike leg. And bonus … they get to keep their race number once finished!
