Get well soon Mrs. Rolfe
Mrs. Rolfe tripped and broke her ankle while on camp at Kawau Island.  She is fine and she is receiving appropriate medical care.  When I spoke with her, she told me to stop stressing, she was in good hands, she was reading her kindle and she told me to go to bed and have a good sleep!  That's our Mrs. Rolfe!

We are deeply grateful to colleagues and parents who controlled the situation and who are ensuring that the camp goes ahead as planned.  All the children are safe.  We are also grateful to Mrs. Batters who took  Mrs. Rolfe's place on camp.

It is expected that Mrs. Rolfe will need a few weeks to recover.  We are working on a plan to ensure that her teaching role is covered.  We will keep you informed via the newsletter.

Meanwhile, please join me in wishing Mrs. Rofle a speedy recovery.  - Regards, Paul.
Staffing Announcement
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Oliphant has been appointed as a Year 7/8 teacher starting next year.
He is currently working at Howick Primary.   Robert has a passion for teaching social sciences. He has a high level of digital competency, having worked in the I.T industry.  Robert will be taking a role in sports, with the support of Mrs Rolfe.
He hails from a family of educators, with his mum, dad and wife all working in the education sector.   He comes highly recommended and he is looking forward to making a contribution to our school. Please join us in welcoming Robert to the Bombay family.

Chromebooks for 2017
Current year 2 parents, some current year 3 parents and new parents to the school, it's time to start thinking about Chromebooks for 2017.
Visit our website. http://www.bombay.school.nz/1/folders/76-chromebooks
The penultimate tab on the home page [Chromebooks] will take you to more information about the brand & providers that we are recommending for 2017.
Parents will also recall that the 2 sets of old school chromebooks are being redistributed to the junior school at the end of next week.  These chromebooks will replace the 'dying' pcs in those classrooms.
In our next newsletter there will be survey for those who need to buy chromebooks for 2017.  There are some finance options available and we will want to know if parents want to attend an information evening or if they prefer to receive information via the newsletter & website.  Keep an eye out for that survey.  Meanwhile have a look at the video below, which introduces chromebooks.
What are chromebooks?
New Playground - Family Plaques
We anticipate installation of the new playground in early 2017.  Would having a family plaque, acknowledging your contribution, be of interest to you?  We are now accepting donations of $100 and above, from families who would like this legacy item.  The plaques would be located as a display in the retaining wall of the new playground.
A special (paper) notice, with a reply slip, was sent home last week - there are additional copies in the school office.
Thanks in advance.

https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/helprefugees

There are over 13.5 million Syrian refugees in the world and around half of them are children!  Do you really want to stand there and pretend you don’t know about it while THOUSANDS die each year trying to lead a better life?  Please help them by donating to UNICEF to help provide Syrian refugees with the necessities they desperately need by following the link above.

Thank you for time and consideration.

This request is from Danica, who has independently started a fundraiser as part of the Year 5/6 Genius Hour.
