Principal's Message
01 September 2016
Warm Greetings,
Hopefully, we are over winter and true spring has arrived. School has been a hive of activity this term. Next week 6th and 7th Kotuitui will be staging the Wizard of OZ. There are 2 shows a day, one at 12.30 and another at 7pm. Tickets are selling fast, so please head to the office as soon as possible to get yours.
Congratulations Mrs. Batters : It gives me great pleasure to confirm that Mrs. Kim Batters has been appointed to the role of Assistant Principal, starting term 1 2017. Mrs. Batters is an experienced and highly regarded professional who will help to lead us onward along our journey of personalised learning. Her appointment completes the orderly restructure of the Senior Leadership Team thereby allowing a smooth transition when Mrs. Brown leaves at the end of the year. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Batters.
2017 Term Dates : The Board has confirmed the following term dates for 2017.
Term 1 –Tuesday 31 January- Thursday 13 April (104 Half Days)
Term 2 – Monday 1 May – Friday 7 July (96 Half Days). This includes a school holiday on 6 June, which is the day after the Queen’s Birthday.
Term 3 – Monday 24 July - Friday 29 September (100 Half Days)
Term 4 – Monday 16 October – Friday 15 December (88 Half Days)
Chromebooks for 2017 : We are recommending the ACER R11 for 2017. This machine combines the best of both platforms. It’s a tablet and a chromebook. Towards the end of this year Google will enable ALL of its PlayStore Apps to work in Chrome. Apps that previously only worked with a tablet will be able to work on the R11. Of course the school is always at pains to point out that parents are free to purchase ANY chromebook from any retailer. We will also be announcing a parent information evening for any parents who wish to find out more about chromebooks - particularly those in the junior school who have children heading towards Year 3. More details will be published in our next newsletter. Meanwhile for those who wish to investigate the new ACER R11 - please visit our website and click on the [CHROMEBOOKS] tab.
Warm regards,
Paul
