Announcement : Yr 3 / 4 chrome books
On Monday 14th November 2016, most of the old chrome books currently in year 3 & 4 will be moved to the junior school.  They will replace the old stand alone machines in these classrooms.  This is NOT the start of a BYOD programme for juniors. We have no plans to roll out a BYOD programme for juniors.  We will make provisions for those students in years 3 / 4 who don't own a chrome book at present.  No child will be denied access to the curriculum.

I am aware of various 'stories' out there about the use of these chrome books.  Please disregard unofficial talk. It is best to get your information from the newsletter or me.  If you'd like to ask a question regarding this notice, please use the form at the end of this newsletter.  - Kind Regards Paul
Youtube/ Facebook accounts
We do not believe that it's appropriate for primary school children to open their own Facebook accounts.
This is against Facebook terms and conditions, and it''s a misuse of the school's email accounts.

Youtube accounts can be educative.  They have great value but they need to be actively supervised by parents.
We do not permit students to open their own Youtube accounts, using the school's email.  If we detect an unauthorised use of our email we will restrict the students's use of it.

We encourage parents to have an educative conversation with their children about their Google accounts.
Check the chrome book history regularly.  Insist that chrome books are used in family spaces and not the bedroom.  Regularly engage with students about their digital work.  It's best not to permit a primary aged child to open a private Google account.

Des Hunt
Well known author, Des Hunt, visited the seniors this week.  We will report back on his visit in our next newsletter.
