Hi, my name is Emily, I am a year 6 student at Bombay school in Auckland.
I have been invited to represent New Zealand at the SJJIF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship
in Los Angeles on the 26,27 and 28 October. I will be competing in both Gi and No-Gi in the kid's featherweight division. This is an awesome opportunity for me and also an honour to represent my country, school and my gym Xtreme Cavalcanti Brazilian Jiu-jitsu & MMA.
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is not solely a martial art; it is also a sport, a method for promoting physical fitness and building character in young people, and ultimately a way of life.
This year I decided to compete. In April I entered the No-Gi National tournament and placed third gaining a bronze medal. In August I entered the Gi National tournament and placed first gaining a gold medal.
I have trained extremely hard this year as this is my passion, training 3nights a week, which I will increase over the next two months so I am 110% ready.
In order to make this happen, I need to raise funds to help pay for travel expenses, accommodation, entry fees etc.
Any support would be hugely appreciated, every little bit goes a long way towards making this once in a lifetime opportunity happen. happy to discuss sponsorship conditions or if you have any other ideas please share with us.
